The new Metrotech HL 5000 Professional water leak locator is the next generation of quality water leak detection instruments. Using a new Dual Segment Analysis ( DSA) the HL 5000 is both a pre-locating and pinpointing instrument. The DSA displays both the minimum constant leak sound as well as the total current sound level. A powerful signal processor suppresses extraneous sounds, allowing the constant sound of the leak to be displayed as the minimum sound. Plastic pipe location mode is a new feature for improved location of impulses generated with the RSP3 Plastic Pipe Locator.
Hydrogen Gas Detection Now the model HL 5000 is a multi-tool acoustical and H2 gas detector. When used with the optional PAM-H2 gas detector probe, the HL 5000 can be used to detect H2 tracer gas for those difficult to find water leaks. Simply insert the H2 tracer gas mix into the water system, walk along the pipe, and when the probe is placed above where the difficult leak is located, the HL 5000 will detect the highest level of tracer gas and the water leak can easily be pin pointed.

PIPE DATA INPUT, choose the pipe material, diameter, and length for
every section of pipe between the two sensors. Up to six pipe sections
can be entered (always in order from the "Blue" sensor to the
"Red" Sensor)

FFT ANALYSIS, the user can examine the sound signals form both sensors from 0
to 5000 Hz. The FFT function can automatically select the high and low
filters if AUTO is chosen in FILTER SETUP.
In
CORRELATION, the correlation "picture" indicates whether the leak
sounds are clearly heard at both sensors. The distance to the leak and
the filter settings are displayed.
